Poster 10: Character Builders: Integrating 3D Modeling, Micro:bit, and Literacy
January 13, 2026
EXPO: CENTER COURT: POSTERS
School Leaders
This engaging session dives into a dynamic project where 3D modeling, literacy, and physical computing converge to bring stories to life. Participants will discover how elementary learners can deepen their comprehension and creative expression by designing 3D characters from their favorite books. The process involves students reading and analyzing main characters, then using Tinkercad to sculpt their chosen figure. The real magic happens as students select a pivotal quote or an important character trait from their reading, and then program a micro:bit to literally give their 3D creation a voice. This hands-on approach fosters literacy skills, introduces accessible coding and design, and transforms abstract concepts into tangible, interactive learning experiences.
