Programming is quickly becoming an essential skill of the 21st century. The traditional definition of literacy is expanding to incorporate new forms of reading and writing that include programming. Having a basic understanding of how code operates, and thereby structures the world in which we live, is a key differentiator in the contemporary workforce. But many students are finding coding courses like Python tend to be just that code and destruct code without really “seeing” something happen. Students need a hands-on approach to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Drones provide a tangible way to see coding in action. When students program drones and see them respond, it reinforces their understanding of coding principles in a real-world context.
