Design in zones / design for everybody. This has been our motto for many years - and this most certainly, absolutely, without a doubt includes space design for our students with sensory needs. Dynamic lightning, soothing colors, relaxing sounds, responsive textures, inviting smells... All of these solutions, although powerful individually, serve as the necessary ingredients required for a recipe of successful-deliciousness; a recipe we’ve used to create sensory spaces that support the diverse needs of those who need just a little extra for their mind, body and soul. Session designed to be a discussion. Attendee participation is welcomed. We’ll discuss the 10 spaces we’ve created, including our training methods. Also, we'll be sharing the data we've collected over the last year since original implementation as well as our shortcomings and successes. We’d also love to hear about your spaces - and while we’re at it, we’ll show you how to create some very cost effective, legit sensory items that can be used on the reg, as long as you spread the word :D
