EXPO HALL LEADERSHIP ROUND TABLES: BOOTH 3386
District Leaders
With ESSR funds dried up, many schools are faced with difficult decisions about how to sustain key programming aimed at student and staff wellness. In this presentation, attendees will learn how to ensure they are staying strategic and focused on developing a culture of wellness with limited funding and reduced programming and staffing. Soft skills are the foundational skills that lead to health, happiness and success, and teaching and assessing them in a coordinated way is essential tier 1 practice. A failure to strategically teach and assess these skills can lead to reduced academic outcomes and a lack of student engagement. This session will highlight how to integrate soft skills training for staff and students as part of your college and career readiness, PBIS and climate initiatives. It will highlight the 32 critical skills people need to succeed, share ways to teach and assess them, and introduce technology that builds self-awareness and soft skills. When a school centers their climate around wellness and focuses on soft skill development, attendance, discipline and academic outcomes improve dramatically. Learn the criteria for a high quality soft skills program and how you can implement it without breaking the bank.
