Immersive Virtual Reality (IVR) is a transformative tool for education, especially as an assistive technology in classrooms to support students with diverse needs. IVR’s potential for enhancing educational accessibility for students with learning disabilities is significant, offering multimodal presentations and interactive activities that encourage engagement and accommodate various learning preferences. Kentucky’s initiatives demonstrate how IVR can aid in experiential learning, career preparation and the development of workplace skills for students with disabilities. Participants will explore examples of how IVR technologies have been leveraged to increase success for students with disabilities in 32 Area Technology Centers and Local Education Agencies. The session also covers strategies for integrating IVR into lessons plans, selecting and managing technology and addressing the needs of diverse student populations.
